When Birds Hush

It is in this place at my house where birds awaken us in chorus. The song goes, "He speaks and the birds hush their singing." I love this little place on our back deck snuggled up against a creek and a wooded area. We have seen a whole family of deer. Occasionally foxes, raccoons, even a neighborhood skunk travel through. ;( But best of all it is teeming with the sounds of a multitude of birds. I often wonder whether we will know what they are saying in that New Earth the Bible so often tells us about.

To be honest, I have trouble 'hushing' my own self to listen. But occasionally I am quiet enough to understand why the birds hush. It is an awesome thing to be in relationship with the Creator. He so wants to talk with us. I pray I will learn to speak less and hear better. Many of my friends are grieving and my prayer for them is to know the sound of His voice this day.

Monday Again

It's been a busy day today. First to get my hair cut, then to Curves, then to a Home Association meeting, several loads of laundry in between, then to Library. I'm getting ready to watch a favorite TV program. At least I can sit for a while. I love retirement though. I'm just as busy as I was going to the office everyday - the difference?? NO Perks, No Pay! ;(

Anyway, it is another beautiful day in Kansas. We have enjoyed a fabulous August so far and I'm loving every minute of it. I'm very thankful for every healthy day the Lord is giving me. I know it can't go on forever but until then... I will continue to enjoy and 'smile at the future.' Proverbs 31:25.

What A Day in Kansas

Yeah! The call came about our car. Looks like it will be fixed by next Wednesday. Our rental is nice but not as comfortable as our own car. Anyway, no big deal. We are glad to have something to drive without our own expense. ; )

I made a couple of fresh peach pies this morning. Company's coming tonight and that calls for dessert doesn't it? Besides that, peaches won't be available much longer. Since I love fruit (all kinds) that is disappointing.

Where has the summer gone? It's a fabulous day in Kansas. Who ever thought we would stay in the 80s and below in August - are we really in Kansas?? I know, I know - we still have the rest of August and September to go. But what a delight the first half of August has been. This is truly the 'day' the Lord has made. Hope your day is as great as ours.

Getting On With It

Well, I must get on with life. Since I'm using a rental car following a recent fender-bender I've been stalling. I miss my little SUV. However, It's off to Curves today. Isn't that exciting? I've had several excuses for not going but I've run out of them so today's the day! ; )

Enjoyed a wonderful evening of fellowship with long-time friends at our famous, favorite BBQ restaurant in KC last night. Now I'm on the march to the weekend. Housecleaning, food prep, maybe a movie with some other friends tonight, etc. Exciting life, huh?
